Dr. Melissa Ortiz-Hernandez sub-specializes in pediatric otolaryngology. This made the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the ear, nose and throat together with head and neck surgery.
She studied medicine at the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico where she also completed her specialty in Otolaryngology. She was part of the team of otolaryngology at Johns Hopkins Hospital where she did her fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology. Here she managed to attend the inauguration of the new Charlotte R. Bloomberg Johns Hopkins Children's Center. She is diplomated by the "American Board of Otolaryngology."
Her training and interests focus on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the trachea and larynx together with swallowing problems. Of particular interest in patients with palatal insufficiency causing speech problems and their surgical repair. Also specializes in the management of neck masses that may be caused by congenital conditions such as vascular malformations or cysts, inflammatory conditions, infectious or tumor. Curriculum vitae.
